Hi! I am Cory. Since the day I was born, it felt like my body was against me. Stomach issues, allergies, asthma and I was sick all the time. And I mean literally all the time. In and out of the hospital, nothing we did seemed to make a difference. Then when I was 16, I discovered naturopathic medicine. At that time, a gluten allergy was very unheard of, but I was diagnosed with celiacs diasease. And thus began my love affair with natural medicine, and healing the body, from the inside out. It has been a long journey, filled with many bumps in the road. After removing gluten, my health steadily improved. Gone were the horrible cramps/diarrhea at night that kept me from sleeping. Gone were the coughing fits that would make me throw up. Slowly, I got sick less and less. Last year I turned to the autoimmune paleo way of eating, which has furthered my healing process. Every year I learn more of how to support my body gently and how to listen to what it needs.
Now I am in the balancing stage; I am learning how to embrace my body through quality (not quantity) exercise and tasty fuel. I am now a full-fledged foodie! I laugh at this sometimes as I once hated food. Now, it challenges me to make allergen free, wholesome and tasty food that is quick and that everyone likes! Join me in my continued journey of healing, growing as a person, and my never-ending escapades in the kitchen.
ABOUT MY BLOG:
This blog has been years in the making. I will be sharing my stories from past and my daily recipe triumphs (and fails), my passion for fitness, and my daily inspirations. I want to share with you a variety of recipes, from gluten/dairy free to grain free to vegan. As they have all played a role in my life. Guaranteed, they will all be peanut free as I am anaphylactic. A lot of the recipes will be tree nut free too, since I still struggle with leaky gut syndrome from many years of prednisone and NSAID use. I will share with you information I have learned about health topics and the healing processes I have (and am) going through.
I will also share my fitness journey. From mass amounts of hours as a child figure skating and playing soccer, to running marathons, half marathons and Spartan races, to my four years competing in fitness/bikini, to post workplace back injury healing and finally finding some balance with hot yoga.
I truly believe in loving yourself as your are now, as a whole. That the mind body and soul are interconnected and need to be seen as one beautiful piece. That my windy path has only served to bring me here today. You will see tools in my toolbox such as mindfulness, breathing techniques, affirmations, reframing thoughts. All are important to healing, not just food. I fully believe that a person needs to be willing to change their beliefs and thought patterns if they do not serve you any more.
Come see more of my life… I look forward to connecting with you:
