I recently read an article entitled 52 ways to tell someone you love and appreciate them. (click to be taken to the article)Wow. It got me thinking about how powerful our words can be in inspiring, motivating and even transforming those around us. Now, full disclaimer, I’m not a words person, I’m a touch person. But I can distinctly remember those times a loved one, friend or even a stranger has spoken words into my life that healed and blessed me. Some examples from my life are:
- when a complete stranger complemented me on my curly hair. Saying its beautiful and suits me well.
- when my little brother texts me out of the blue and says I miss you. Can you say melt-my-heart?
- when a friend validates my experiences and lets me share my reality by saying “that must be hard for you…can you tell me more”
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist.” Oscar Wilde
We are bombarded every day with expectation, demands, and feeling like we don’t just quite make it. Unsolicited kindness can speak into our busy lives and challenge us to enjoy our moment. To live and not just exist.
